Change version
without missing a deadline.
A prepress workflow migration isn't something you do on a weeknight. It requires preparation, dry runs, and keeping an exit strategy open until the very last moment. Here is how we do it, and what the developer has planned between now and 2028.
METHOD
Inventory, parallel platform, scale, tracking
TOGGLE
One title at a time, rewind in minutes
ACCOMPANIMENT
First online closures with you
ROADMAP
ECO3 Publisher, until 2028
01 — The method
Four steps, in this order.
Step 1
The inventory
Versions in use, modules actually used, interfaces to your CtPs and your press control, in-house scripts accumulated over the years. This is almost always the stage that reveals surprises.
Step 2
The parallel platform
The new version is set up alongside the old one, powered by your real files. We compare the outputs side-by-side before making any changes to production.
Step 3
The toggle, with collapse
We switch a single title or edition, not the entire site. The old platform remains operational, and we can roll back within minutes if necessary.
Step 4
Night support
The first finalizations on the new version are done with us online. That is where the last configuration details are settled, under real conditions.
On our latest migration to NewsWay X: contract signed in December 2024, specification workshops completed in February 2025, operational suitability verification in August 2025, on-site installation in October 2025, and user acceptance testing in February 2026. Fourteen months between the signing and the final sign-off, across two sites.
02 — The publisher roadmap
Five versions until 2028.
The publisher announces a cadence of about six months: two functional releases and three security and maintenance releases. Each release updates the platform's security stack.
